Finally, brothers, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. – Philippians 4:8
Purity does not come from humans; purity only exists in God. We cannot put out faith/confidence in a human being, they will always exhibit a failure of purity. We must limit our purity thinking on God’s grace as Jesus did.
Until the confidence of purity and what is right is ALL placed-on God, not self or other humans, we will be in a cycle of being pierced with failures.
To paraphrase Oswald Chambers – We should never stand up for our own honor, or the honor of others; we should stand only for the honor and dignity of the Lord Jesus Christ. This is the only way to move out of the cycle of failed purity seeking.
