Remember or forget (forgot to publish yesterday)

2 verses stuck out to me this morning in my reading. One from Psalms and one from John.
give me back the joy of your salvation.
“Look, you are well; do not sin any more,
so that nothing worse may happen to you.”

Jesus’ words in John are to a man He healed. Telling him to sin no more or something worse might happen to him.

The Psalmist is pleading with God to return the joy of salvation. That sense of awe that only God can create when we know His salvation is at hand.

As I ponder these 2 verses, it seems to me that loosing the joy of salvation is something worse. How often do we forget the salvation joy? Or better yet how often do we actually remember it?
