You may or may not know, it is Ash Wednesday. This is the first day of Lent, a time of prayer and fasting.
For the most part, Lent is a Catholic tradition, but only in name. A dedicated time of fasting and pray actually comes from the Jewish culture. In essence setting a side a time to focus your attention on God.
This will be my second year focusing 40+ days to the Lord. Though I am not Catholic or Jewish, I realize it is a very good practice to engage in. Refocusing and renewing your body, spirit and mind to the Lord.
I wonder what it would look like to do this 3 or 4 times a year? Focusing our attention on the Lord and being in deeper prayer with Him. Denying our flesh for a time to be able to hear Him more clearly.
But why stop at 4? I mean 8 would be even better, right? Dedicating our entire year to hearing Him and speaking to Him. Isn’t that what we are called to as Christians?
So blessings to you during this Lenten season.
