The invitation

In a dream I was hanging out with Charles Barkley and Shaquille O’Neal. I had something to finish by myself and went away. I was invited through a closed door to join them and other NBA greats to go to dinner and a night on the town. I had a desire to go, but I decided to finish one last thing before I joined them. I did not answer them thinking I would be done before they were gone.

As I wrapped up my task I realized I could not find them, as they had already gone. The phone numbers I had stored for them were deleted from my phone as well. I missed the opportunity to spend an evening with a few greats of the NBA.

If you know me then you know I am not a sports fan of any kind. I know the rules of most sports and can understand the way different sports are played, but I do not follow sports. I do not watch sports. I am not a fan of sports, but I am a fan of hanging out and having conversations with those who have skills and gifting in any disciple.

Now to what I gained from this “vision”. Jesus, the greatest to ever walk the planet earth, the son of God, The word, God the Son, has invited me to join Him everyday on my walk. The Holy Spirit knocks every day at the door of my heart, mind and soul. I am invited to do amazing, sometimes mundane things. God, the creator of the universe, invites me to be a part of His plan every day.

Am I to busy wrapping up one last task? Have I missed my opportunity because I was too busy? Just as in my dream, they still went out to dinner, ate and had fellowship. God’s plans will not be thwarted because I refuse or drag my heals in responding. He will continue without me, but I miss out on His great works. I miss out on fellowship with God and being a part of what He has put in place.

Finish one last thing and you may be left out of something great.
