One-Handed Ministry

Is your ministry for Christ a One-Handed Ministry?

As I walked into church on Sunday, several people greeted me holding a cup of coffee. It was then I saw the reality of one-handed ministries. Our service to God is often too comfortable. The way we serve others must fit our lifestyle and field of comfort. I am not saying that the people with the coffee would not have put them down if there were a specific need. In fulfilling their task of greeting, they missed seeing people. They were so busy talking to each other, all the visitors received was a nod of the head.

The Holy Spirit did not stop with identifying the greeters; He then took it to a personal level.

Am I living a life of one-handed service to others? Am I so focused on completing a task, that I miss the opportunity to offer a cup of cold water in the name of Jesus? Am I willing to have both hands open and ready to serve those in need of a touch of love and acceptance? Can I stop using half of my gifts and abilities on myself and be all in for Christ? That is where the Spirit took me. How many of your good efforts for Christ are one-handed?
