Not what you expected

We seem to expect way too much in our daily lives. Our expectations are that we will be treated fairly and that for the most part human justice will take place.

Should we have expectation more like this? I will be hated today. I will have injustices done to me today. I will be disrespected. My plans will not happen today.

One might ask, “isn’t that just giving up?”

Not in the least! Setting your expectation high leads to disappointment and potential falling away. Giving into frustration and sin.

It is great if things move in a direction you hoped for, but do not set it as an expectation. I have heard it said, “Hope for the best and plan for the worst.”

Expect and be anxious for nothing, except the love of God. There is nothing else to expect, especially from a human being.

All things work for the good of those who love Him. This includes when the earthly outcomes you hoped for do not come to be. He is in control. Maybe, just maybe, by allowing you hopes to be pushed aside, He is trying to help you adjust you expectation.

  1. A thought from my quiet time:

If my time in prayer ends as I thought it would when I started . . . I did not encounter GOD.

Thank you for your faithfulness to Vine Solutions Ministry.

    It is a blessing,
